Support HB 715 for Voucher Transparency and Accountability

To: Rep. Russo, Sen. DeMora, Gov. DeWine

From: A verified voter in Columbus, OH

April 4

I am writing to urge you to support House Bill 715, which would finally bring much-needed transparency to Ohio’s private school voucher system. Ohio currently spends over $1.1 billion annually on taxpayer-funded vouchers, yet the private schools receiving these funds are not held to the same reporting standards as our public schools. As a constituent, I believe that where public money goes, public oversight must follow. HB 715 is a common-sense measure that would: - Track the Dollars: Require the Department of Education and Workforce to report exactly how much state funding each private school receives. - Compare Results: Create a system to compare the academic performance of voucher students with their public school peers. - Identify Impact: Disaggregate data by family income to show whether these funds are reaching those in need or simply subsidizing families already enrolled in private institutions. We cannot continue to fund two separate education systems while only requiring accountability from one. Please stand up for Ohio taxpayers and students by ensuring that every dollar spent on school choice is tracked and its impact is proven. I ask you to co-sponsor and vote 'Yes' on HB 715.
