Reject Discriminatory Sports Bill - Promote Inclusive Policies

To: Sen. Sinema, Sen. Kelly, Rep. Ciscomani

November 4

Title: Save Women's Sports Act of 2023 (H.R. 6728) This proposed legislation, H.R. 6728, raises concerning issues regarding discrimination and equality in sports. Mandating that student athletes can only participate on teams aligning with the sex they were assigned at birth disregards the complex realities of gender identity and expression. It perpetuates harmful biases against transgender and non-binary individuals. Instead of promoting an inclusive environment, it creates unfair barriers and stigmatization. Moreover, tying federal funding to compliance with these rules is an overreach that could devastate educational institutions financially for upholding principles of non-discrimination. Sports should unite communities, not divide them along arbitrary lines. I urge you to reconsider supporting this bill and instead work towards policies that embrace diversity and provide equal opportunities for all students to pursue athletic activities free from prejudice.
