Russell Vought's nomination as OMB Director poses a grave threat to our democratic institutions and economic well-being. His Project 2025 manifesto outlines an alarming agenda of empowering the President to overrule Congressional spending decisions, which would violate the constitutional separation of powers. Vought has explicitly stated his intent to "traumatize" federal workers and undermine agencies' ability to enforce regulations protecting public health and the environment for the benefit of polluting industries. Furthermore, the Trump administration has already taken illegal actions to freeze Congressionally-approved federal funding, with devastating consequences for Americans' jobs, businesses, and access to essential services. Confirming Vought would enable and accelerate this destructive overreach of executive power in defiance of the law. I urge you to reject this dangerous nomination and uphold Congress's constitutional authority over federal spending and your duty to serve the interests of the American people over those of wealthy corporations and special interests.
