From ACA to Hegseth: Time for the Senate to Stand Strong
To: Sen. Warner, Sen. Kaine
From: A constituent in Charlottesville, VA
September 30, 2025
I’m writing with three urgent asks.
First: Please hold the line on negotiations until ACA tax credits are extended and there are iron-clad, written guarantees that Trump will let already-appropriated funds actually be spent. This shouldn’t be a partisan issue—every Senator should be fighting for working families who rely on affordable health care.
Second: It’s outrageous that Speaker Johnson still hasn’t sworn in Adelita Grijalva. That delay undermines democracy and representation. It looks especially suspicious given the looming release of the Epstein files. Has the Senator publicly called for those files to be fully released?
Finally: I am deeply alarmed by Secretary Hegseth’s speech openly encouraging our military to commit war crimes—even here at home against U.S. citizens. Ordering soldiers to blindly follow political and illegal commands is authoritarian and dangerous. It undermines both our national security and our basic freedoms. The Senator should immediately move to impeach Hegseth.
Our democracy only works when leaders refuse to normalize this kind of extremism. Please be bold, be public, and take a stand.
