Trump’s Targeting of ActBlue Is a Threat to Fair Elections

To: Sen. Rosen, Rep. Horsford, Sen. Cortez Masto

From: A constituent in Las Vegas, NV

April 30

I’m writing to express serious concern over President Trump’s April 24 memorandum directing the Department of Justice to investigate ActBlue, a fundraising platform central to Democratic campaigns. While campaign finance integrity is important, this directive appears politically motivated and part of a disturbing pattern of using executive power to target political opponents. The memo singles out one party’s fundraising infrastructure without equal scrutiny of similar Republican platforms, raising the alarming prospect of selective enforcement and viewpoint-based retaliation. This threatens the democratic principle of fair participation and risks chilling civic engagement. I urge you to speak out against this abuse of power, press for congressional oversight, and defend the right of all Americans to participate in the political process without fear of government retribution. Thank you for your time and commitment to protecting our democracy.
