An Open Letter

To: Sen. Warner, Sen. Kaine

From: A constituent in Leesburg, VA

February 27, 2025

This proposed legislation, the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act, raises valid concerns about ensuring fair competition and equal opportunities in athletics. However, it risks perpetuating discrimination and creating an unwelcoming environment for a vulnerable group. Rather than divide us further, we should pursue inclusive solutions that uplift all students and allow them to participate fully. I urge you to vote against this bill and instead take measured steps towards fostering athletic programs that are truly equitable and supportive of all young people. There are more constructive paths forward that bring communities together rather than driving them apart over complex personal matters. Let's have an open dialogue to understand diverse perspectives and enact policies rooted in our shared values of justice and human dignity.
