An Open Letter

To: Sen. Curtis, Sen. Lee

From: A constituent in Holladay, UT

February 12

I urge you to vote NO on the SAVE (Safeguard American Voter Eligibility) America Act as it is written. This bill would severely limit women's ability to vote in elections, and it is trying to solve a problem that doesn't exist- it's already illegal to vote if you're not a citizen, so removing non-citizens from voter rolls is a ridiculous stipulation. People whose current names don't match their birth certificate- which overwhelmingly impacts married women- will find it much more difficult or in many cases impossible to vote, and it will also disenfranchise many Native Americans. This is a clear case of federal overreach, and though it passed the house, I call on you as my senator to vote NO on this bill.
