Stop the Unauthorized Use of Federal Property for Trump’s $45+ Million Parade I am writing to demand immediate action regarding the Trump administration’s illegal and wasteful use of federal resources to stage a massive military parade in Washington, D.C., scheduled for June 14, 2025—Donald Trump’s birthday. According to multiple sources, USDA headquarters employees have been ordered to work remotely for three weeks so their offices can be converted into military barracks to house more than 6,700 troops participating in this spectacle. Meanwhile, the administration has consistently opposed telework—until it became politically convenient. Let’s be absolutely clear: This event was not authorized by Congress. There is no legal justification for converting civilian federal infrastructure into temporary military housing for a political vanity project. This is fraud, waste, and abuse—and it violates basic appropriations and procurement law. The scope of this operation is staggering: • 28 M1 Abrams tanks, 28 Bradleys, 28 Strykers, and multiple howitzers • 50+ military aircraft, including bombers and helicopters • World War II-era equipment and ceremonial units • An estimated $45+ million in taxpayer money, not including road repair, security overtime, or displaced worker costs • Use of USDA and GSA buildings to house thousands of service members, displacing federal employees without public notice or consent The parade’s timing—on Trump’s birthday—and the administration’s secrecy around funding and logistics make it unmistakably political. It is also a deeply disturbing sign of growing authoritarianism: military pageantry deployed for a single individual’s glorification, at public expense, with no congressional appropriation or approval. This is not a celebration of the U.S. Army’s legacy. It is a propaganda stunt and a gross misuse of military assets and federal buildings, dressed up as patriotism but rooted in ego and autocracy. I urge Congress to: 1. Launch an immediate investigation into the funding and authorization of this parade. 2. Hold accountable any officials who circumvented congressional authority or misused agency funds and property. 3. Enact restrictions to prohibit future misuse of federal facilities for partisan or personal political purposes. 4. Demand a full public accounting of the cost, logistics, and authorizations involved in this parade. Taxpayer-funded militarism should never be weaponized for political theater. Congress must act now to stop this before it becomes a dangerous precedent for future abuses of power.
