I need you to oppose the Bridger Pipeline Expansion and use every tool available to block its construction through Montana. This 650-mile pipeline would carry 550,000 barrels of Canadian oil daily through our state, and we deserve better than being a throughway for fossil fuel exports.
The company behind this project has a disastrous safety record. True Company subsidiaries spilled over 50,000 gallons of crude into the Yellowstone River in 2015, contaminating a Montana city's drinking water. They dumped 600,000 gallons into North Dakota's Little Missouri River in 2016. They paid a $12.5 million penalty to settle the lawsuits. Now they want to build 650 more miles of pipeline through our rivers and land.
Their promises about AI leak detection and boring deeper under rivers don't change the fundamental problem. Pipelines rupture and leak. This project benefits Canadian oil producers and refinery corporations while Montana communities bear the risk to our water, land, and health. The previous administration rejected this approach for good reason.
Vote against any legislation supporting this pipeline and oppose the state and federal permits it still needs before construction begins.
