An Open Letter

To: Sen. Scott, Rep. Dunn, Sen. Moody

From: A constituent in Tallahassee, FL

June 18

I am sorry that SCOTUS allowed Tennessee to continue its blanket ban on gender affirming care for minors. I think it’s weird that the Republicans are all “parents’ rights!” When it’s banning books and all “protect the children!” When it’s making healthcare decisions. I don’t want the government between my kids and their ability to get healthcare, whether it’s an abortion or gender care or birth control or emergency care or, with the way things are going, vaccines! When kids can’t get care, they die. Outsiders do not need to be involved in these decisions, especially when it comes down to a bias about the groups that are accessing the care. The federal government should be actively protecting bodily autonomy, even for children.
