Apply and uphold strict scrutiny to Texas' age verification
To: Justices Court
From: A constituent in Hinesville, GA
May 7
I'm still writing to ask you to oppose rational basis and uphold strict scrutiny for age verification laws. Although they are not seen as bans directly, they do impede the rights of adults to access content by forcing them to sacrifice their privacy and sensitive data in order to access it. Ruling in favor of rational basis would open the floodgates for indirect or even direct bans on books, anime, manga, video games, novels, movies, religious texts, television programs, and pornography. I am aware of the inherent dislike of pornography by six Justices in the court. However I feel it would boost trust in the court if, despite the apparent disgust regarding pornography due to Catholic faiths, the court still ruled in favor of strict scrutiny. It would dissolve any fears of corruption and bias, and any rumors of some judges favoring the authors of Project 2025, who most likely positioned a case like this to arrive at a heavily conservative Supreme Court so they could remove first amendment protections for sexual expression.
