Write ICE is out of control. Veterans, international visitors, and children have been manhandled and caged without sufficient food or sanitation. Entire neighborhoods have been terrorized by unidentified masked people using rubber bullets and tear gas against what at most are legitimate civil protests. The massive spending allocated to ICE and comments by the Administration suggest that we are in for even more of this terror. This is misguided at best. As the granddaughter of immigrants, I am heartbroken that I find myself now looking to see if my descendency status allows me to acquire an EU passport. My adult children are looking to move out of the country for fear of what their children will now be subjected to. It is not too late to close the concentration camps and afford due process to those whom we seek to deport. I suspect, however, that deportation is not longer the goal. Rather, it appears to be a reinstatement of some sort of indentured servitude. I am horrified.
