Oppose HJR 173

To: Rep. Crossley, Sen. Nicola

From: A constituent in Independence, MO

April 15

I’m a Missouri grandparent and community member, and I’m asking you to oppose HJR 173. I’m extremely concerned about what this means for public schools and local communities. I am a proud graduate of Missouri public schools and now have grandkids in Missouri public schools. I see how much schools are already stretching to meet students’ needs. They depend on steady, reliable state funding to plan, hire teachers, and support kids. Weakening the revenue base makes that harder and limits what local leaders can do to respond to real needs. We should be protecting and strengthening the systems families rely on, not taking big risks that put schools and communities in a tougher spot. I urge you to vote no on HJR 173 and protect funding for our public schools.
