Justice for Renée Good — Investigate and Impeach
To: Sen. Warner, Sen. Kaine, Rep. Wittman
From: A constituent in Midlothian, VA
January 14
I am writing to demand an immediate full, independent, and transparent investigation into the killing of Renée Nicole Good, a 37-year-old American citizen who was fatally shot by a United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent in Minneapolis, Minnesota on January 7, 2026. The circumstances surrounding Ms. Good’s death raise profound questions of excessive force, unlawful conduct by federal agents, and a troubling refusal by the Department of Justice (DOJ) and Civil Rights Division leadership to pursue a civil rights investigation into the shooting. According to multiple sources, the DOJ has declined to open a criminal civil rights investigation despite video evidence and eyewitness accounts that conflict with the official narrative. Federal prosecutors in Minnesota and senior Civil Rights Division lawyers have resigned in protest, citing political interference and the sidelining of standard investigative procedures. This is an unacceptable abdication of justice and accountability. A matter of this gravity — the killing of a U.S. citizen during an enforcement operation — demands full scrutiny by impartial investigators, not political shielding or cover-ups. I further demand that Congress investigate whether Harmeet Dhillon’s refusal to authorize a thorough civil rights investigation and the broader Department of Justice handling of this case constitute an abuse of power or obstruction of justice. Officials at the highest levels must be held accountable when their actions protect federal agents from scrutiny at the expense of a grieving family and the rule of law. Additionally, I call for impeachment proceedings against Harmeet Dhillon and any other senior official whose conduct constitutes a dereliction of duty, obstruction of justice, or a failure to uphold their constitutional and legal obligations in this case. Leadership that refuses to allow an unbiased investigation into potential civil rights violations — particularly after the loss of an American life — has lost the public’s trust and should not continue in positions of power without full congressional review. The American public deserves transparency, accountability, and justice. The deaths of U.S. citizens at the hands of federal enforcement officers — and subsequent efforts to minimize or mischaracterize those deaths — demand nothing less than extraordinary oversight. I urge you to take these demands seriously, act swiftly, and ensure that justice is pursued without fear or favor.
