Vote No on Pesticide Immunity in the 2026 Farm Bill
To: Rep. Horsford
From: A constituent in North Las Vegas, NV
April 8
Vote no on Sections 10205, 10206, and 10207 of the 2026 Farm Bill. These provisions would grant pesticide companies immunity from lawsuits when their products cause cancer and other serious diseases. Corporations should never be shielded from accountability for the harms they cause.
Bayer-Monsanto has already paid $11 billion to settle over 100,000 Roundup cancer cases, with more than 61,000 lawsuits still pending. Syngenta faces over 6,400 lawsuits from people who developed Parkinson's disease after exposure to its paraquat herbicide. These companies are now asking Congress to protect them from future liability instead of making their products safer.
This is the industry's fourth attempt at immunity after failing at the state level in nine states and inserting Section 453 into the appropriations bill, which was removed after public outcry. House Agriculture Committee Chair GT Thompson, who received over $600,000 from the pesticide industry in 2023/24, is pushing this bill forward. The EPA's revolving door with industry and weak labeling requirements already fail to protect public health. Giving these corporations legal immunity would eliminate the last avenue for justice when people get sick from pesticide exposure.
I will be watching your vote on this issue.
