I am writing to urge you to act with Congress to stop the illegal and unconstitutional war against Iran that the President just started. As you are well aware, the Constitution gives Congress and only Congress the power to declare war. There is no authorization for use of military force in effect now. Iran was not attacking nor imminently attacking our country, so there is no emergency action justification for this grave Executive overstep. You took an oath to defend the Constitution. Do it now. Your party has control of both houses of Congress. Your Democratic colleagues will support you to stop this illegal and unconstitutional action. Stop this usurpation of the your Article I powers, stop this illegal and unconstitutional act of war.
