I am writing to express my deep concern about the leadership of Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
Since taking office, Secretary Kennedy has overseen reckless spending cuts across critical public health programs. Funding for vaccine distribution, infectious disease surveillance, and public health emergency preparedness has been slashed at a time when Americans need these protections most. These cuts are already making our country more vulnerable to outbreaks of preventable diseases like measles, polio, and whooping cough.
Kennedy’s long record of spreading dangerous misinformation about vaccines and public health is well-known. His presence at the helm of HHS has not only damaged the agency’s credibility but actively endangered the health and safety of the American people. Public trust in vital health programs is eroding, vaccination rates are declining, and the infrastructure designed to protect us from future pandemics is being dismantled from within.
If this were a private sector company, Secretary Kennedy would have been fired already for gross mismanagement and endangering the organization's mission. In fact, any CEO responsible for hiring someone so unqualified — and allowing this level of damage to occur unchecked — would likely be removed by the board as well. It is unfathomable that an organization so critical to the welfare of the American public would tolerate this level of failure and irresponsibility.
I urge you to act immediately to remove Secretary Kennedy from office. If he refuses to step down voluntarily, I ask you to pursue impeachment proceedings. The health and safety of every American depends on a functional, science-based, and trustworthy Department of Health and Human Services.
Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter. I look forward to your leadership in defending public health and holding those responsible for this crisis accountable.
