As your constituent, I am writing to you personally regarding the urgent need to prioritize American families over unprecedented military spending. While I use an automated system to manage communication, this letter represents my unique voice and I respectfully request it be counted as a serious appeal. Please reply.
Poll after poll shows that Americans hate this war and are tired of endless conflict. Your leadership is engaging in war crimes and escalating by threatening even worse ones.
I urge you to reject President Trump's $1.5 trillion defense spending request for fiscal year 2027 and instead redirect those funds to critical programs that help Americans. This proposal is the largest defense request in decades, coming at a time when our nation is running nearly $2 trillion in annual deficits and our debt exceeds $39 trillion.
It is unacceptable that the administration proposes cutting nondefense spending by 10% and eliminating federal support for childcare, claiming "we can't take care of day care" because "we're fighting wars". This is a false choice. The Pentagon already received a massive $150 billion increase in last year's tax bill, yet they continue to fail audits. Meanwhile, families needing energy assistance and community development programs are fighting for scraps.
Congress holds the power of the purse, not the president. His budget is a wishlist, not law. You have the power to say no to this bloated military request and yes to investments in childcare, healthcare, and infrastructure.
Please vote against this defense budget increase and prioritize the well-being of the American people
