I’m writing to urge you to oppose H.R. 1, the budget reconciliation bill, and its harmful cuts to vital government programs. Specifically, I’m very concerned about: - the MASSIVE INCREASE to the federal deficit, - the devastating cuts to Medicaid, - the restrictions on Medicare eligibility and increased cost burden for Medicare-Medicaid dual enrollees, - the funding increase for ICE and Trump’s mass deportation operation, - the widespread roll back of clean energy tax incentives and climate protections, - the unprecedented funding cuts to SNAP, - the funding cuts to Planned Parenthood clinical care, - the changes to student loan access and repayment options, and - the defunding of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Congress should pass a fair and responsible budget that helps working families and communities, not one that slashes our benefits to fund tax cuts for the wealthy.
