DO SOMETHING. Sending letters demanding answers is far from enough. Sen. Kaine's privileged legislation to end the energy emergency is a start. So many things that Pres. Trump and Elon Musk are doing are illegal. It ALL needs to be shut down. Drastic times call for drastic measures. Find hardcore legal solutions, and fast. Democracy is teetering. And civil servants, many of whom are your constituents, are reeling. My husband, who works for DoD, was told he had until Feb. 28 to return to the office 5 days a week instead of two. Then today he was told to be back Friday. Meanwhile, there are no working bathrooms on his floor, no hot water, and only a third of the elevators are working. This is a federal building in DC. And he's one of the lucky ones. A friend of mine works for USAID and is stranded in Egypt, not knowing if she has a job anymore, or what to do. A friend took a new job with the Patent Office two months ago. Today the political appointee there asked for a list of all probationary employees. They won't say if those people are fired or not until Friday -- when the buyout offer has expired. (If that's even real.) He has a 1-year-old baby. And where would he get a new job, with so many people getting laid off? It's terrifying. Please help us all and DO SOMETHING NOW, and immediately. We don't have time to lose. Thank you.
