Don’t rescind any public funding

To: Sen. Scott, Sen. Graham

From: A constituent in Charleston, SC

June 17

I am imploring you to vote no on the rescissions package now under senate review, which would claw back over $1billion in already appropriated funds for public media. This package sets a dangerous precedent and indicates to all people who get public money that their funding is not a promise, their financial futures can turn on whim. This is not right. In addition, public media is one of the most successful private-public partnerships with for every federal dollar, stations raise about seven more. Rescinding this support would do real and lasting damage – and in communities where public media is the only local media source, it could kill people.
