I recently read that there have been proposals to tax fossil fuel companies since before I was born - since the 1970s gas crisis. I also understand that, when they've been taxed, fossil fuel companies have been legally able to avoid paying as much as is intended by the tax creators. Nevertheless, this is a moment when the same or higher taxing of fossil fuel companies needs to happen. Their leaders are getting richer off a terrible, unnecessary war. They oversee a propaganda machine the likes of which we haven't seen since WWII. And we are seeing and feeling the negative effects of that propaganda in extreme weather and warming. Tax Exxon, BP, Chevron, all the big ones and all the small ones alike and all their suppliers. They are getting away with murder and it needs to stop.
