Preserve equitable healthcare access, reconsider proposed cuts
To: Rep. Ross
From: A constituent in Cary, NC
July 3, 2025
The proposed cuts to Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act (ACA) will severely limit access to health care for millions of Americans. Imposing work requirements and increasing cost-sharing for Medicaid enrollees will create barriers that prevent individuals from receiving necessary medical care. This is particularly concerning for vulnerable populations, such as those with disabilities or chronic conditions, who may struggle to meet strict employment mandates or afford additional out-of-pocket expenses. Furthermore, slashing funding for the ACA marketplaces and rural hospitals jeopardizes the availability of affordable coverage and threatens the viability of essential health care providers. These measures run counter to ensuring comprehensive and equitable access to health services. A reconsideration of these harmful policies is warranted to uphold the principle of prioritizing people over profits and safeguarding the well-being of all communities.
