Vote No on the SAVE America Act

To: Sen. Warner, Sen. Kaine, Rep. Walkinshaw

From: A verified voter in Centreville, VA

March 17

Vote no on the SAVE America Act. This bill will disenfranchise millions of eligible voters while solving a problem that doesn't exist. Requiring documented proof of citizenship and photocopies of ID with absentee ballots creates insurmountable barriers for low-income Americans who lack easy access to birth certificates or passports. Women who changed their names after marriage face particular hardship when their documents don't match across agencies. These aren't edge cases. They're millions of your constituents who will lose their right to vote because they can't navigate a bureaucratic maze. The photocopied ID requirement for mail-in ballots is unworkable. Election attorney Marc Elias has already warned it will spark immediate controversies over verification and ballot secrecy. States will face chaos trying to implement this system, and voters will pay the price. This isn't about election security. It's about making voting harder for people who already face obstacles. I expect you to stand against voter suppression and reject this bill.
