The continuing resolution bill is a lie

To: Sen. Grassley, Rep. Miller-Meeks, Sen. Ernst

From: A constituent in Iowa City, IA

March 11

You will soon be asked to vote for the continuing resolution. But the bill is a lie. Money you have passed laws to spend, causes you favor, they don't matter. Right now, and for the last few months, only one person's opinion matters when it come to how to spend the government's money. That isn't you and it isn't even the president. Who is shutting down USAID? It isn't Rubio, it isn't Congress. It's Musk. Who is firing the people that make the government work? It isn't Congress, it isn't agency heads, it isn't the president. It is Musk. Musk decides where the money is spent. You might want to write back and reassure me that the directives come from the president. That you approve of how things are going. Go ahead and say it if you feel you have to. But spending will still be controlled outside of Congress until you do something about it. And they way that money is being held back means that people will die, Americans will suffer, and democracy will wither. Congress is supposed to control the purse strings in our government. Voting for the continuing resolution won't magically make that so. Not in this administration. You need to use the CR as leverage to stop the careless, reckless, and thoughtless hurricane that is damaging our people.
