You need to speak out now against the CMS Interim Final Rule released June 1, which makes H.R. 1's Medicaid work reporting requirements even more destructive than they already were. This rule tightens the definition of "medical frailty" so narrowly that patients actively in treatment must keep re-proving their condition just to hold onto coverage. It also bans self-attestation, forcing working adults, caregivers, and people with disabilities to produce documentation they may not be able to gather — paperwork barriers designed to reduce enrollment, not verify eligibility.
Republican leadership claimed that people with disabilities and safety net dependents would keep their Medicaid. That was not true when H.R. 1 passed, and this new rule makes it even less true. Millions of people are not choosing to drop coverage — they are being pushed out. Your state has the standing and the obligation to challenge this rule, defend the expansion population, and make clear to federal officials that this will not go unanswered. Your constituents are watching.
