Stop Government-Sponsored Cyber Operations Against Citizens
To: Rep. Maloy, Sen. Curtis, Sen. Lee
From: A constituent in Salt Lake City, UT
August 15
The government needs to immediately halt any federally sponsored cyber operations that target civilians or civilian infrastructure. What is being described as cyber terrorism — conducted or sanctioned by our own government — is a betrayal of the public trust and a violation of the values this country claims to uphold. We are supposed to be better than this.
I expect you to demand a full congressional investigation into these activities, push for transparent oversight of all federal cyber programs, and support legislation that explicitly prohibits government agencies from conducting offensive cyber operations against the people they are meant to serve. Accountability is not optional here. If our government is engaging in this conduct, the public deserves to know, and those responsible must face consequences.
