Having just spent several days in Boston, I was able to get a refresher course on American history. Boston is a vibrant mix of cultures due to its history with immigration. There was a period when tens of thousand of Irish immigrants poured into Boston and other cities along the east coast. Most where poor, repressed people looking for a better life. The migration created some problems for sure but looking back, can you imagine if America rejected Irish immigrants like we are doing today. Would we want a Boston without our Irish heritage. Trump and Republicans current immigration policy is not just un-American, it is a cruel and inhumane way to treat people. It is NOT what we stand for and is AGAINST our own self interest. We need immigrants and what is happening is way beyond criminal law enforcement. Immigrants without paperwork are just that, not criminals. The billions poured into deporation should be spent to i prove our immigration system for those who want to immigrate to Anerica. Most Anericans understand the policy is more about racism and less about law enforcement. Especially given the cruel way enforcement, detainment and deportation is be used. Trump will soon be gone and there will be investigations into these actions. People will go to jail. But not in a jail as cruel and inhumane as our for profit immigration detention camps.
