I am a constituent in Charleston, SC, and I need you to hear me clearly.
This morning — Easter Sunday — the President of the United States used a social media platform to announce strikes on Iranian power plants and bridges. No congressional vote. No defined objective. No stated exit. Just a profanity-filled Truth Social post ending with “Praise be to Allah.”
Let’s be direct about what that means:
— Targeting civilian infrastructure is a potential war crime. Done in our name.
— There is no articulated strategy, no off-ramp, no definition of what winning looks like.
— American troops are already in harm’s way. Three aircraft were hit yesterday. An A-10 pilot ejected over Kuwait.
— The “Praise be to Allah” sign-off is a mockery of Muslim Americans’ faith, used as a punchline on a war threat. It’s offensive and beneath the office.
I am not asking you to agree with my politics. I am asking you to do your job. Invoke War Powers oversight. Demand a legal justification for striking protected civilian targets. Require a public strategic framework before Tuesday’s threatened strikes.
American families should be able to celebrate Easter without their government threatening war crimes on social media.
I will be watching how you respond to this moment.
