Release Ethics Report on Former Rep. Gaetz Nomination

To: Sen. Sinema, Rep. Biggs, Sen. Kelly

From: A constituent in Gilbert, AZ

November 19

The release of the House Ethics Committee's report on the investigation into former Representative Matt Gaetz is a matter of vital public interest and accountability. As President-elect Donald Trump's nominee for Attorney General, the American people deserve full transparency regarding any potential ethical violations or misconduct by Gaetz that could impact his fitness for such a high office. Precedent clearly supports making ethics reports public when members resign, as was done in the cases of Bill Boner in 1987 and Buz Lukens in 1990. Withholding this report would only breed further distrust and undermine faith in our governing institutions. I urge you to act swiftly in releasing the Ethics Committee's findings on Gaetz to promote transparency and allow the vetting process for this crucial nomination to proceed with all relevant information available. The integrity of the Department of Justice and the rule of law itself is at stake.
