I am writing to urge you to co-sponsor and fully support the Military in Law Enforcement Accountability Act, an essential safeguard for our democracy at a moment when it’s desperately needed.
President Trump’s repeated attempts to deploy military forces into American cities—against peaceful demonstrators, local leaders, and even routine civic activity—are an alarming abuse of power. The use of active-duty troops for domestic law enforcement runs counter to our constitutional values, undermines the Posse Comitatus Act, and threatens the safety and civil liberties of the very communities you and I are sworn to protect.
The United States military is not a domestic police force, nor should it ever become one. Our service members took an oath to defend the Constitution, not to be used as instruments of political intimidation. The Military in Law Enforcement Accountability Act draws an urgently needed line: it ensures transparency, strengthens oversight, and makes clear that armed troops have no place patrolling American streets.
As your constituent, I ask you to take a stand for accountability, for local control, and for the rule of law. Please co-sponsor this legislation and signal that our communities deserve safety—not militarization.
Thank you for your time and for your commitment to protecting our democratic institutions.
