SNAP is not a luxury—it is the nation’s most essential anti-hunger program. The GOP’s proposed budget would strip at least $230 billion from SNAP over the next decade, the most severe retrenchment in the program’s history.
These aren’t abstract figures; they are the difference between nourishment and malnutrition for over 42 million Americans, nearly half of whom are children. This proposal is not a recalibration of public spending—it is a deliberate act of cruelty.
Under the plan, average SNAP benefits could fall to just $2.25 per meal, while the actual cost of a modest, nutritious meal is approximately $3.38 nationwide. No child, no family, can thrive on starvation-level support.
SNAP does more than feed families. Every dollar invested generates over $1.50 in economic activity—supporting local grocers, farmers, and small businesses. Dismantling this program will devastate not only vulnerable households but entire communities. Children will go to school hungry. Seniors will be forced to choose between food and prescriptions. Working families will be pushed into deeper poverty, punished for daring to need help.
Food insecurity is directly correlated with increased hospitalizations, higher dropout rates, and lifelong health consequences. The repercussions of these reductions will echo for generations.
Vote NO on any legislation that withdraws this critical lifeline. To starve the poor while rewarding billionaires is not governance—it is moral failure. Stand on the right side of history. Protect SNAP. Feed America.
