I'm writing to ask you to please carefully consider your votes for heads HHS and the FBI.
While I understand the importance of standing by your party to stay in good graces with the new president, I also have always thought you to be a reasonable person who has the best interests not only of our state, but our country, at the forefront of your decisions.
And I'm certain that as a reasonable person, you know that both of these candidates are compromised and completely unqualified to hold these positions.
A person who espouses conspiracy theories and doesn't believe in the basic tenets and foundations of public health hardly seems like the ideal candidate to lead a department such as HHS. We need people in these positions who work on behalf of all the people and not at the behest of one man.
As a member of the US Legislative Branch, you have equal power to the President in the Executive Branch. You DON’T work for the president, nor should you. You work for the American people, specifically, for the people in North Carolina. Please don’t give up your power for checks & balances now, or at any point in this presidency. That’s not what you went to Washington for.
The Preamble to the US Constitution says, "We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America." Care for public health and justice for all of us are written into the very first words of the Constitution and that role of the federal government is too important to leave in the hands of those who don't have the best interest of ALL Americans at heart. It's for these reasons that I'm asking you to vote "No" for these prospective cabinet candidates.
