Dear Members of Congress,
This Easter weekend, the President of the United States posted the following on Truth Social at 8:03 a.m. on Easter Sunday:
“Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran. There will be nothing like it!!! Open the Fuckin’ Strait, you crazy bastards, or you’ll be living in Hell - JUST WATCH! Praise be to Allah.”
Hours later, flanked by the Easter Bunny and hundreds of children in pastel dresses, he held multiple war briefings on the White House lawn — threatening to bomb Iran’s power plants and bridges and send the country “back to the Stone Age” — while egg races waited.
Representatives, scholars, and former military officials have noted that targeting civilian power grids and infrastructure constitutes a potential war crime under international law.
And yet Congress remains largely silent.
We are writing to members of both parties because this is not a partisan question. It is a constitutional one.
The pattern of behavior is documented and undeniable: a president who declares victory in a war while deploying more troops the same day. Who claims negotiations are happening that the other side flatly denies. Who celebrated the death of a decorated veteran. Who joked about Pearl Harbor to Japan’s Prime Minister. Who now issues expletive-laden war threats on Easter Sunday while children wait to roll eggs.
The 25th Amendment and Congress’s oversight authority exist precisely for moments like this. We are not asking you to make a political calculation. We are asking you to fulfill your oath.
To Republican members specifically: your silence is a choice. History will record it as such. The voters in your districts are paying $4.11 a gallon for gas. American troops are dying. The Treasury has confirmed this country is $41 trillion in the hole. This is the moment your oath demands courage.
Open a formal investigation into the President’s fitness for office. Use your oversight authority. Do your jobs.
The American people are watching — and November is coming.
