Uphold voter-approved abortion rights in Missouri

To: Rep. West, Sen. Schroer

From: A verified voter in Defiance, MO

May 1

The citizens of Missouri have clearly spoken through their vote to pass Amendment 3 and protect reproductive rights. As their elected representatives, you have a duty to respect the will of the people and uphold the democratic process. Attempting to overturn this amendment so soon after its passage undermines the voice of Missourians and erodes trust in the integrity of our elections. I urge you to reconsider this misguided effort to restrict abortion access against the expressed wishes of a majority of Missouri voters. Abortion is a deeply personal medical decision that should be made by individuals in consultation with their doctors, free from government interference. The proposed exceptions for rape, incest, and medical emergencies are woefully inadequate and fail to account for the complex realities many pregnant people face. Instead of wasting time and resources attacking reproductive freedom, I implore you to focus your energies on addressing the real issues impacting Missourians - strengthening our education system, improving access to healthcare, boosting economic opportunities, and more. Respect the democratic process and the decision your constituents have already made. Protect Amendment 3 and stand for reproductive rights in our state.
