I write this petition to oppose House Resolution 9237, The Take Care of America’s Veterans Act. While there are many components have been on the legislative table for multiple Congresses. If Veterans were lobbyists or billionaires, and it had any benefit to the GOP members of Congress, they would have done all of it by now. Once again, proof that Congress only cares about Veterans when they’re at the ballot box.
Cutting Veteran Benefits in the future will eventually lead to lower enlistments - if a future recruit sees that the VA will not take care of them post-service, that will deter them from joining. Holding a Net Zero Cost policy when it comes to Veterans is un-American.
The rollback of ratings for future claims of Sleep Apnea and Tinnitus is a Poison Pill. Both sleep apnea and tinnitus are very common conditions for most veterans, especially those who deployed. Sleep Apnea is prevalent amongst Veterans who were exposed to burn pits and other toxic exposures.
The House Committee on Veterans' Affairs GOP post yesterday stated that doctors are being “consulted.” I think many of us would like to know more about these doctors - what’s their background? Who’s paying them for their “expert opinion?” What’s in it for those doctors?
Almost every Veteran Service Organization (with the exception of the American Legion) has come out against this bill for a reason!
How about to avoid adding to the national debt you tax millionaires and billionaires (none of whom have served a day in their lives) pay their fair share of taxes. Don’t make Veterans who have served honorably and are injured for life be a line item on a budget that gets slashed.
