Oppose the “One Big Beautiful Bill”
To: Sen. Budd, Sen. Tillis
From: A constituent in High Point, NC
June 20
I am urging you to oppose the “One Big Beautiful Bill” that was passed previously in the House. There are so many portions of it that I believe will be harmful to our country. I’ll mention three that I am most concerned with. The cuts to Medicaid, the restrictions on Medicare eligibility and increased costs to dual enrollees and the massive increase to the federal deficit. I believe, the effects this bill will have on healthcare in this country will be devastating as hospitals will see an increase in uncompensated costs, leading to reduction of services for patients, loss of jobs and possibly closures causing people to have to travel further for care. Medicaid recipients could see their benefits taken away, and not be able to receive the appropriate level care they need to survive. Republicans used to be fiscally conservative which is why I’m disappointed that you’re willing to be a rubber stamp for this bill regardless of the consequences to the deficit meanwhile when the CHIPS act and Infrastructure Act passed, we heard GOP complaints about increased spending impacting the deficit. You’re our elected official, represent us, the people!
