I’m writing to demand that you immediately investigate and block the Trump administration’s unconstitutional use of the Alien Enemies Act and any effort to suspend habeas corpus.
On May 2, 2025, U.S. District Judge Fernando Rodriguez ruled that Trump’s deportation order targeting Venezuelan nationals under the Alien Enemies Act was illegal. There is no declared war or invasion—this is a blatant abuse of power designed to bypass due process and violate the Fifth and Fourteenth Amendments.
Now, White House official Stephen Miller has confirmed the administration is “actively looking at” suspending habeas corpus—an extraordinary power that only Congress can authorize, and only in times of rebellion or invasion. Suspending this constitutional right would allow indefinite detention without trial and tear at the foundations of American law.
To make matters worse, this same administration is preparing to welcome 54 white Afrikaners from South Africa, falsely claiming they face racial persecution. This is happening while thousands of Black and Brown asylum seekers are deported or detained without hearings. U.S. intelligence has debunked the invasion claims, and even the South African government has condemned this policy as politically motivated.
Elon Musk—who grew up under apartheid and now advises Trump—has fueled this agenda by falsely warning of a “genocide” against white South Africans. This administration is literally prioritizing white nationalist narratives while shredding civil rights and constitutional law.
I urge you to:
1. Publicly oppose any move to suspend habeas corpus.
2. Block unlawful use of the Alien Enemies Act.
3. Investigate racially discriminatory refugee practices.
4. Defend due process for all under U.S. jurisdiction.
The Constitution is not a suggestion. Uphold it—now.
