We've made phone calls, knocked on doors, had countless fights with family and neighbors, but our representatives are doing very little to make it worthwhile. Democrats are not even playing the same game that the republicans are. Republicans are grabbing power and running wild to implement their plans, without any testing, polling or even popular support. They are just taking action. As heinous as their policies and ideas are, at least they have conviction and take action. You can't combat that with civility and following norms. The norms are gone. They aren't playing within your norms. If you don't wake up, our democracy will be gone too. We voted for you to go to office and protect democracy. You said it yourself: democracy is at stake. But what have you guys done? I should see every member of congress shouting from the rooftops about what the republicans are doing and what it will mean for the American people. You should all be fighting. You should have a plan to present. You should be able to show us or at least tell us why you are better for us than them. Even with the current "we are slightly less bad than them", people don't even believe that at this point. I know you don't have the votes, but that never stopped republicans in the past. When they are in power, they do what they want. When we are in power, they get us to compromise to get what they want. When they have the power, they use it. When we have all the levers of power, we...make sure it's ok with them or outright capitulate instead of making real progress. We need to do better.
