Demand Accountability for Alina Habba’s Abuse of Power as U.S. Attorney

Dear Congressman Bentz,
I am writing to you not only as a constituent, but as someone who still believes the rule of law must mean something in this country. I am appalled by the actions of Alina Habba, currently serving as Acting U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey. Her politically motivated prosecution of Congresswoman LaMonica McIver is a clear abuse of her office and an affront to everything our justice system is supposed to stand for.
There is video evidence—widely available and unambiguous—that contradicts the government’s claims in this case. This is not a matter of interpretation or legal nuance. This is a case of the government knowingly lying to smear a sitting member of Congress for political gain. If they can do this to her, they can do it to any of us.
You, Congressman Bentz, are an attorney. You have sworn an oath not just to your constituents, but to the Constitution and to the legal profession itself. You know better. You know this is a betrayal of legal ethics, due process, and prosecutorial responsibility. And yet, you continue to support an administration that rewards these abuses of power.
Alina Habba must be impeached and removed from office. The charges against Congresswoman McIver must be dropped immediately. If we allow this kind of lawless, retaliatory behavior to go unchecked, we are no longer a nation of laws—we are a nation ruled by vendetta.
Silence in the face of this kind of abuse is complicity. As your constituent, I demand that you speak out, uphold your oath, and take action against this disgraceful misuse of the U.S. Attorney’s office. The integrity of our justice system—and the trust of the people you represent—is at stake.
