Vote NO on MO SB72
To: Sen. Williams
From: A constituent in Hazelwood, MO
December 4
I strongly oppose SB 72 which unfairly targets and criminalizes undocumented immigrants in Missouri. This harmful legislation promotes discrimination, vigilantism, and dehumanization of a vulnerable population. Proposing bounties for detaining people based solely on their immigration status is unethical and a breach of human rights. Rather than this draconian approach, Missouri should focus efforts on comprehensive immigration reform that provides a legal pathway to citizenship and upholds the dignity of all people. Seeking to deputize bounty hunters against undocumented community members only breeds fear, division and potential for abuse. This bill runs counter to American values of equality, due process and human decency. I urge you to reject SB 72 and any policies that scapegoat immigrants or encourage racist persecution. Missouri can do better to build a society of inclusion, compassion and respect for all who call this state home, regardless of national origin. Promoting cruelty and injustice against any group makes us all less safe and secure.
