The proposed autism study led by Robert F. Kennedy Jr. raises significant ethical concerns. Amassing comprehensive medical records from various federal and commercial databases without informed consent is a serious violation of privacy. Categorizing autism as a "preventable disease" perpetuates harmful stigma and ignores the neurodiversity of individuals on the spectrum. This initiative reflects a flawed understanding of autism and undermines the rights and dignity of the autism community. Rather than wasting resources on such a misguided endeavor, it would be more constructive to direct funding towards supportive services, inclusive education, and promoting acceptance of neurodiversity. The well-being and empowerment of autistic individuals should be the priority, not seeking to "cure" or eradicate autism.
