Please Do Not Enstate Hakeem Jeffries or Chuck Schumer as Senate Majority Leader
To: Sen. Klobuchar, Sen. Smith
From: A constituent in Minneapolis, MN
November 5
The Democratic Party will take over as the Majority in the Senate in January of 2027. Among the current contenders for Senate Majority Leader are Hakeem Jeffries and Chuck Schumer. I am writing because I have major concerns about either of these individuals being the voice of the democracy at the senatorial level.
Major considerations for this election included: stopping US military involvement in Iran, Lebanon and Palestine; accountability and abolition of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for their illegal and deplorable treatment of both US citizens and migrants; and slowing down catastrophic effects of the climate crisis.
Both Senators Jeffries and Schumer would interfere with the progress in which the nation desires. They have no desire to hold the Trump administration accountable for their unconstitutional actions and policies.
Please consider options such as Senator Van Hollen who Senator-Elect El-Sayed favored as a more suitable contender. Thank you for listening to your constituents.
