Vote NO on DHS funding bill
To: Sen. Curtis, Sen. Lee

"Never let a problem to be solved become more important than a person to be loved." --Thomas S. Monson Is immigration a problem? Sure. It is in desperate need of reform (thats for a different letter, though). But ICE's violent tactics are throwing the baby out with the bathwater. President Monson teaches us that people are more important than problems. Immigrants are stuck in a broken system. Have some of them broken laws? Sure. The point that ICE is missing, though, is that immigrants are still PEOPLE. The dehumanizing rhetoric coming from the administration is appalling. A person is not a defacto criminal, monster, or murderer simply because they were born in a different country. Yet ICE and too many government leaders seem to think that one must equate the other. At this point, the biggest criminals--the ones who are violating human decency, and are even murderers--are members of ICE. This cannot continue unchecked. I urge you to vote NO on the DHS funding bill. Simply throwing more money at a problematic system that violates human rights will NOT solve this problem. Check your conscience. Stop giving in to the lies that DHS and the administration fling out every day. Remember who deserves to be loved. The people are depending on you.
