An Open Letter

To: Asm. Lee, Sen. Wahab

From: A constituent in Milpitas, CA

December 11

Hello. I would like to ask both of you to consider legislation into the process of job application and hiring. It is like the Wild West out here with no regulations as to how company’s are posting jobs that they aren’t actually hiring for, taking months of time in between opening a roll and hiring for it, and dragging people into 6 + interviews only to be told there was an internal hire. I’d like to see if we could get something in the books for: 1. Company’s should only post job openings for positions that they are actually hiring for, not “ghost jobs” where they constantly have openings to meet contractual obligations for tax incentives. 2. Time from job posting to hiring should be narrowed down to about a 2 month time span. 3. Cap the number of interviews to 3 at the most. I believe if we can do this, it will make the citizens of california more competitive in the job market while also relieving a lot of stress and anxiety in the job search world. Thank you
