Act on climate change now.

To: Sen. Smith, Sen. Klobuchar, Rep. McCollum

From: A verified voter in Saint Paul, MN

July 7

I am writing to urge you to take more assertive and immediate action on climate change. According to NASA and NOAA, 2023 was the hottest year on record globally, with temperatures 1.18°C above the 20th-century average, and 2024 is on track to break even more records. The UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) warns that without rapid and deep emissions reductions, global warming will surpass 1.5°C within the next decade, with devastating consequences for ecosystems, public health, and the economy. In the U.S. alone, climate-related disasters in 2023 caused over $92 billion in damages (NOAA, 2024). These trends underscore the urgent need for stronger legislative leadership to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, invest in renewable energy, and support climate resilience. I urge you to champion ambitious, science-based policies that will secure a livable future for all Americans.
