EXTEND ACA SUBSIDIES
To: Rep. Van Orden
From: A constituent in La Crosse, WI
November 11
I am writing as a constituent and concerned citizen to urge you to support the extension of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) premium subsidies. These subsidies have made it possible for millions of Americans—including working families, small business owners, and retirees not yet eligible for Medicare—to access affordable, comprehensive healthcare coverage.
Without congressional action, these subsidies are set to expire, and the consequences will be significant. Families who are already struggling with the cost of living could see their premiums double or even triple. Many people will be forced to choose between maintaining health insurance and paying for essentials like rent, food, and utilities. Losing these subsidies would also increase uncompensated care costs for hospitals and raise insurance premiums for everyone.
Healthcare is not a partisan issue—it is a matter of basic security and human dignity. The ACA subsidies have strengthened our health system, improved access to preventive care, and helped small communities like mine remain healthy and stable. Allowing them to expire would be a step backward at a time when we should be building on the progress we’ve made.
I respectfully ask that you do everything in your power to extend the ACA premium subsidies and continue investing in a healthcare system that works for all Americans.
Thank you for your leadership and for your continued service to our state and nation.
