I'm concerned about proposed cuts to social security. Seniors like my husband and I didn't have the opportunity to build a substantial savings or pension and depend on our checks to survive. The social security fund has been used to pay for non-retirement benefits and has not been reimbursed. When you add to that the fact that only a portion of income for higher wage-earners contributes to the fund, you have at least a double-whammy. I know this is a complicated topic but it is essential that we don't keep ignoring the truth that we're going to have to take drastic steps to protect the fund. Please take action to protect some of our most vulnerable citizens.
