OPPOSE SB 2510 school cuts

To: Rep. Busatta, Sen. Calatayud

From: A constituent in Miami, FL

April 14

SB 2510 Threatens Students’ Future: VOTE NO on SB 2510 I am adding my voice to the Florida PTA’s position, as follows: SB 2510 cuts public high school college and career readiness programs by 50%, stripping $292 million from districts and eliminating the $350 million reserve fund designed to protect schools from unexpected enrollment drops. These aren’t abstract numbers—these are programs like AP, IB, AICE, dual enrollment, CAPE, and CTE that give students a pathway to college and careers. They help level the playing field for students in under-resourced communities. Without them, thousands of students could be left without access to the opportunities they need and deserve. Many of Florida’s school districts understand what’s at stake. These cuts don’t reflect the reality—or the true value—of these programs in students’ lives. They risk pushing schools into budget shortfalls, forcing families to shoulder more costs, and leaving students without access to the tools that help them thrive. Our kids deserve more, not less. These program funds are not “extras”—they are essentials. Every student, no matter their zip code, deserves access to a strong future. VOTE NO ON SB 2510
