Ending Nuclear Moratorium
To: Gov. Sherrill
From: A constituent in Bridgeton, NJ
April 8
I am a constituent from Cumberland County, born and raised in Salem County. I am very disappointed in your decision to end the moratorium on Nuclear power plant construction. People seem to have forgotten the Three Mile Island accident in 1987, and how worried we all were right here in Salem County about the winds blowing radiation to us from Harrisburg. Since then, more serious nuclear accidents have occurred at Fukushima and Chernobyl. And besides the safety issues there is also the huge issue of nuclear waste storage. Nobody wants it in their backyard, even less than they want data centers and warehouses. This is a bad move for New Jersey. The focus and taxpayer money should be going to renewable energy solutions.
